UTASS is a place for everyone

We work together with individuals, groups, partners and organisations to provide opportunities for people across the Durham Dales

We offer access to a wide range of community support from our base in Middleton-in-Teesdale, including the local Post Office, Citizen’s Advice and health and wellbeing services.

We secure funding to deliver specific projects and activities to assist us in providing the activities, events and improvements that local people are interested in. For more information on what’s on see our what’s on page here

UTASS-Ladies-outing-March-2022

Post Office

Open at UTASS every Tuesday morning from 9.45 until 12.45pm and every Friday afternoon from 1.45pm until 3.30pm.

Citizen’s Advice

Citizens Advice County Durham delivers drop-in sessions at UTASS every Monday between 10am- 12noon.

Trained advisors can provide confidential and impartial advice and help find solutions to a wide range of issues including benefits, employment, debt and finances, consumer rights and housing.

Music and Memories

Singing sessions inspired by old-school music hall favourites. Initially developed for those experiencing dementia and their carers, these sessions are open to all. Join us for a good old sing-along together with Mike Bettison and his ukulele. Refreshments served.

Retired Farmers Lunches

Retired Farmers Lunches- bringing groups of retired farmers together for a freshly cooked lunch on a monthly basis, at three locations including Middleton-in-Teesdale Auction Mart, Barnard Castle Auction Mart and St. John’s Chapel Town Hall.

Shopping Trips

Regular trips are arranged to help people travel to shopping areas such as Barnard Castle and Tindale Crescent Retail Park at Bishop Auckland, using the UTASS minibusses.

Ladies Outings

Monthly outings for ladies living across the dales. Trips using the UTASS minibuses to various places for a nice day out with a stop for lunch or refreshments.

Pie and Peas sessions

Pie and peas sessions- chance to meet others and have a chat and maybe a game or two, whilst enjoying a pie and peas lunch at UTASS. Every Monday 11am- 12.30pm.

Wellness Walks

Free weekly walks led by volunteer, Sue Bainbridge. Meet at 1.30pm every Monday outside Middleton-in-Teesdale Sports and Social Club. Suitable for all, two levels of walk included each day, including a shorter, more steady walk for those who still want to get out and about but cannot walk fast or for long distances.

Chat & Craft at UTASS

Drop in session for crafts and cake, 10am- 12pm every Tuesday morning at UTASS, Middleton-in-Teesdale. Everyone welcome. Even if you don’t want to try any of the craft activities, you are always welcome to join just for a cuppa and a chat.
